General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
❋ Protecting your personal details
❋ Respecting your privacy
❋ Fair use of communication systems to convey relevant information
A statement from Laurence Perkins:
On 25th May 2018, new EU regulations come into force to protect your personal data such as email and postal addresses, telephone numbers and other personal data. The new rules also protect you from unwanted emails or telephone calls.
I communicate with people about a range of musical events and activities such as chamber music courses, educational projects, concerts or other similar events. Where necessary, I also store your personal details that you supply to me via email, on-line application and contact forms which are specifically relevant to course applications and other musically-related events. These details are only shared with directly relevant organisations (such as the hosting venue for a music course) for the purpose of administering a particular event which you are involved in and to which those details relate. I will not share any details with organisations with whom I do not have a direct involvement.
For the vast majority of people, this has been and continues to be a perfectly acceptable process. However, especially for the benefit of people contacting me for the fist time, the following details should clarify this process, and will apply from 25th May 2018 until further notice.
❋ You will only be included in email distributions about course and other musical events if you have given your written consent to this. This consent should be sent via email, and will be stored for possible future reference by the regulatory authorities if required. Please use the CONTACT form to acquire the appropriate email address.
❋ Your personal data (email addresses, telephone numbers and other information submitted by you via on-line form or email) will only be passed on in the context of an entirely relevant context, such as conveying essential details to a course-hosting organisation who requires these details to complete a booking process.
❋ Your email address and other personal details will be stored securely, and will not be passed on to any third party for commercial gain.
❋ You have the option to revoke this permission at any time. In this event, your email address and any personal details will be removed from the list.
As a sole proprietor, I respect your privacy and personal wishes. There are lengthy details of the new regulations which you can see at https://www.eugdpr.org However, the vast majority of people prefer a simple straightforward approach, hence my clear statements above. If you do have any concerns, particular issues or requirements, please contact me directly via the contact form on this page, directly above this information.
